Do you think outsourcing enables identity theft?
I called my bank Suntrust this morning and it seems they on off hours use a call center located in Mexico. Last year I called my cell phone company Helio and they use India call centers. You can tell by the repeated " scripted" responses as well as the heavy accents..Additionally if you ask a question that i suppose they were not trained on they are " lost" for an answer, or give you an response that has nothing to do with what you asked....I am happy that people who more than likely wouldn't have acces to employment are able to get work....My concern is....my our personal info in the hands of people that reside in countries that our law enforcement personnel have no jurisdiction in. How do they these companies whom use outsourcing protect our info??When I paid my cell bill I had to give my credit card number over the phone...Anyway I wold like your thoughts and opinions,..perhaps my worries will be lifted...Thanks..........
Does outsourcing to China hurt non-manufacturing workers?
I am an attorney in a field that is not subject to outsourcing like patents or discovery, but I know my salary is lower because of outsourcing to China. When I graduated from high school, everyone was told to go to college because it was impossible to earn a good living without a degree. So everyone went to college. then you realize that a college degree isn't worth anything because everyone and their brother has one. So then you go to law school, and lo and behold, there are a million lawyers in this country. The result is that I had to spend gargantuan amounts of money and time just to earn the same living as a high school grad 30 years ago.When I was talking with a coworker about all the jobs that have been lost in this recession, she actually said, " But that's not your job." As if the loss of middle class jobs doesn't drive down everyone's wages. How sad that people are so clueless and unpatriotic.
Accounting in IT outsourcing company?
Hi I am an accountant. I have accounting background in logistics company. However, I want to work in IT company now which outsources the job from third country.The case is the IT company outsources the work to Asian country for cheap labor to make software for American companies.What different method and practice might the IT company practise that the accountant should be aware of. Since I have not worked in IT company which outsources its work, I don't know much about this.Please help me know if it has very different accounting practices that I should be aware of in advance.Any help would be appreciated.
